Independent – My Little Sister Died of Cancer: I Want to Save Others From Her Fate

The ovarian cancer charity set up by Emer Casey’s family has already raised €700,000.

Emer Casey died of ovarian cancer four days after her 28th birthday. She had been diagnosed with the disease just four months previously. Since her death, her parents, Brendan and Juliette Casey from Youghal, and her four sisters, have set up a foundation in her name in order to raise awareness about the condition and improve the lives of other women diagnosed with it.

Her eldest sister Juliette recalls the outgoing woman. “Emer was the youngest in a family of five daughters,” she says. “She was very active, had a wicked sense of humour and always had time for everyone. She wasn’t in a relationship but had lots of friends and packed more into her 28 years than most people do in a whole lifetime.
