Evening Echo – Emer’s Legacy Helping to Prevent Cancer

A BREAKTHROUGH in the detection and treatment of ovarian cancer may be around the corner thanks to research made possible by the legacy of Youghal woman Emer Casey who passed away from the disease in 2006.

Speaking at ovarian cancer support group OvaCare’s patient information day in the Clarion Hotel Cork last weekend, gynaecological cancer specialist Dr Sharon O’ Toole discussed the progress being made by researchers in Trinity College and UCD thanks for funding by the Emer Casey Foundation.
