Cork Independent – World Ovarian Cancer Day

Ovarian Cancer kills 275 women in Ireland every year. In the lead up to the Global Awareness Day for Ovarian Cancer on Friday 8 May, the first year students at Colaiste Choilm in Ballincollig have lent their support by making a human logo which recreates the World Ovarian Cancer Day design.

Teal is the official colour of World Ovarian Cancer Day and the students wore their own teal uniforms to support the cause. The Emer Casey Foundation supported World Ovarian Cancer Day by sending a speaker from the charity to Colaiste Choilm. The speaker addressed the students and praised their spirit of volunteerism and the school’s commitment to charitable works.
