About the Foundation
The Emer Casey Foundation is dedicated to providing funding to secure the best independent research to detect the early signs of Uterine/Ovarian cancer. Following Emer's death in June 2006 the Casey family promised they would do all they could to help the research of Ovarian/Uterine cancer with the hope that this research might lead to a future where this disease might be detected early.
The Emer Casey Foundation is currently funding the research of two PhD fellows, the most recent scientists to join the DISCOVARY consortium, for the next three years. They will work to develop methods to detect the disease in its early stages by identifying and validating a panel of proteins that can be used as a serum-based diagnostic biomarker panel for early detection, recurrence and response to treatment in ovarian cancer and develop novel therapeutics for patients who no longer respond to chemotherapy.
The Foundation relies on fundraising to provide this invaluable research. From our sponsors, to those who take part in our annual 10k run/walk or raise money at local fundraising events we are eternally grateful to everyone who supports our work, in any way, big or small.
